Sufi Abhors Snob Talk Poem by Sumita Jetley

Sufi Abhors Snob Talk

But there is a steep status difference, said she,
Riya got it, yet thanked her stars silently,
In her heart, a Sufi's wisdom held sway,
Life's true uniformity, in each passing day.

At the Gymkhana Club, plants all around,
Two mothers in conversation, the sound profound,
Mrs. Kapoor spoke of status and class,
Riya knew such views would eventually pass.

'Different lifestyles, ' she said with a sigh,
'We don't mix well, and here's why.'
Riya stayed silent, but in her mind,
She saw the balance, a connection defined.

'Auntie, ' she said, 'everyone's unique,
There's value in differences if we seek.'
Mrs. Kapoor frowned, unsure and stern,
Riya smiled, knowing there was much to learn.

A great art it is, to go with the flow,
In accepting change, we begin to grow,
Being a snob, just a mask of fear,
A Sufi sees clearly, life's purpose is clear.

In the garden, Riya felt at peace,
Grateful for her beliefs, her inner release,
Uniformity in life, a truth profound,
In every heart, it's there to be found.
