T'was a cold, clear, northern night;
the heavens were on fire.
I stood alone dreaming,
contemplating, my sensuous desire.
When suddenly - there!
out of the north,
came a glitter from afar;
and while streaming down
from the heavens above,
I wished upon that star;
- and thought of you -
No matter where you are.
This amorous sun,
of sparkling radiance,
gleamed brightly upon the skies;
and while I beheld
its dazzling magnificence,
as a glorious star -
of future times,
of tomorrow's aspirations,
of days gone by the bye;
- I thought of you -
The darling of my eyes.
