Sunday Afternoon Outing Poem by Marilyn Lott

Sunday Afternoon Outing

Rating: 3.5

Dressed in their Sunday finest
Right after church one afternoon
The family took a little stroll
And it couldn’t have been too soon

For it was a wintry day, my friend
And the snow had been falling hard
It stacked up during church service
And piled up high in the yard

Don’t you love old photographs?
They take you back so far
Take you back before you were born
Old-styled clothes and great old cars

Picnics with the family then
Right out by a pretty lake
I’m so glad I have these photos
That folks let somebody take

Look at that old buggy and horse
So many old stories they bring
Oh, I enjoy seeing those sights
Of Sunday afternoon outings!
