Sunday Mornings…..Indiana - Poem by James B. Earley

Seems a Holy Band assembled
…..Hypocrites…..Americana
Church Folks on Sunday morning
….Back home……in Indiana

Morality….as they know it
On such platform the decision
…..Criticize….then ostracize
A people based on that religion

…Why should one…fear the Devil
When there’s a Pence upon the shelf
Spouting quotes of God’s damnation
The greater evil…Church itself

…Dire straits…that flock assembled
Nation’s heartland….Americana
Church Folks...all…bearing witness
…Sunday Mornings…Indiana

Author's Note:
'WASHINGTON - Indiana Gov. Mike Pence (R) quietly signed legislation Thursday that could legalize discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals.'
