Sundays Poem by Marilyn Lott

Sundays

When I was a little girl
Sundays were special.
My folks dropped my brother and me
Off at Sunday school
Then later we would join them for church.
I guess it was the fact that
We did this together as a family
That stays important in my mind.
I felt good about that day.
I was allowed to wear
my new pat-n-leather shoes
Instead of the brown oxfords I hated!
After church we would come home and
My mother would put a pot roast
In the oven with potatoes and carrots.
She would make gravy and
A delicious dessert.
Good food and family time...
Yes, Sunday was
One of the best days of the week
When I was a little girl!
