Sunset - Poem by David Whalen

Wan shades
of carmine and carnelian
Dying in a sunset’s
languid demise
The flame of pink,
the smoke of lavender
Grudgingly giving rise…to
Final feeble glowing light
of velvety purple
Then to Ebon soot of night
