The sun went down today at half past four,
Just as I finished working for the week,
I’ve seen the sun set many times before,
Today, I held my breath; and could not speak,
It sank so slowly way out in the west,
And tinged my snow capped hills a dusky pink,
A sight that never leaves me unimpressed,
So mesmerised, I force my eyes to blink,
The grey clouds in the east, were pink and blue,
The sun had touched the sky for miles around,
And then it changed, took on a lilac hue,
I hold my breath for silence has no sound.
For all was well within my world today,
I watched the sun until it went away.
