Linda Harnett Poems

Oh, to be lying,
On a beach,
With sand in my toes,

I am woman,
Proud and free,
More to me,
Than what you see,

Hush now child,
No need to say goodbye,
No winter song,
No gentle lullaby,

Oh, how I missed you, Lonely Beach,
Where I have left my soul,
The rugged rocks surround me,
I sit there, lost, alone.

I’m sitting by a windmill,
In a hurricane it seems,
I feel that I’ve been here before,
Or was it in my dreams.

They say that when the body sleeps,
The spirit needs to roam,
It rises up to leave this plane,
To find a place called home.

And Still I Wait

And still I wait,

For you I’d climb a mountain,
I’d grab the furthest star,
I’d walk from here to Timbuktu,
No distance is too far.

I’m going now,
Just moving on,
Perhaps you’ll miss me,
When I’m gone,

Today I lit a candle,
In memory of you,
A very special tribute,
A flame of gold and blue.

For old times sake, lets walk down memory lane,
Recalling sweetest memories of the past,
Lets feel the love that came before the pain,
When we believed our love was meant to last,

I had a little puppy,
It piddled on the floor,
And every time I mopped it up,
It piddled even more.

I travelled to the mountains,
Through long and winding road,
My destination aimless,
Tune in to chill out mode.

The sun sank low,
The moon was bright,
We gathered driftwood,
Struck a light,

The heavens are bright and cloudless,
The sky is a pale powder blue,
There’s a wonderful pink glow below it,
As the sun settles down right on cue.

A wondrous shooting star, I seen,
On a cold dark winter night,
The year was nineteen ninety nine,
It’s memory shines so bright.

One fine day,
We’ll stand alone,
As one,
When circumstance,

The autumn leaves,
Abandoned tree,
The red and yellow,
Now are free,

I think I need to fly now,
To seek out pastures new,
Let me soar just like an eagle,
Find solace in a view.

Why don’t we meet up in Paris?
Rekindle romance once again,
Let’s stand side by side,
In the moonlight,

The Best Poem Of Linda Harnett

Oh, to be lying,
On a beach,
With sand in my toes,
And the wind,
In my hair.

And only the sound,
Of the seagulls,
On high,
On a beach,
Under sunny blue sky.

The gentle caress,
Of the waves,
On the shore,
And you close,
Beside me,
Could I ask for more?

A soft sandy beach,
That goes on,
You, me,
And a beach,
So happy together.

It was my birthday on the 16th, I read your poems, a marvellous birthday treat. I can only repeat Terry Donovans remarks and for myself, they were wonderful.

There is so much meaning in all you write, and you convey it without profound poetic terminology, which makes it easy to read, easy to digest. And always enjoyable, even if something like 'Today, I Lit a Candle' can bring a tear to the eye.

Windmills. A journey within, and without a thoughtful melody of words.

Yes, I'm afraid it's me again. I like your poetry so much I regularly come back to see what you have added. I like poetry that I can read and understand without difficulty - and this is what you write.

I've been back and reading your poems again. They are all so readable and yet say so much. I was really fascinated by 'Windmill', so very profound but leaving us to guess so much. I hope you'll be writing and sharing your poems with us forever!

I read all your poems with a lot of pleasure. Whether sad or happy, spiritual or earthly, they have a warming glow and show a real underlying understanding of your subject matter. They may or may not be built on your personal experiences, but they are about life - which is obviously a subject you know a lot about. Terry
