Superman Poem by Bill Wright

Superman

I saw him running down the road,
I watched it happen on TV,
A first sub two hour marathon
By that Kenyan Kipchoge
Along the road he ran and ran
That skinny little Superman
I cannot get my head around
How quickly he did cross the ground

Nobody thought it could be done,
A barrier to last for years,
Kipchoge knew that they were wrong,
Confounding all his peers,
I wonder what went through his head,
His heart pumping and legs of lead,
Did he wonder if he would ever see,
His name go down in history.
