Supermarkets And Their Worth Poem by Christopher P. P. White

Supermarkets And Their Worth

I used to go looking for easy women,
Now I go looking for bargains
Down the vegetable aisles
In supermarkets.

Parsnips are half price!
Carrots are half price!
Potatoes are half price!

I get far too excited
When I see a turkey joint
Going for seven pounds cheaper
Than it did the other day.

Then there's the gateaux,
The pickled onion,
The French beer, the nappies—
ALL REDUCED!

I may not be looking to get laid anymore
But I feel like I'm getting a similar satisfaction.

At least I'm actually finding
What I'm looking for.
