Surrender Of A Belief Poem by Neethu Prasanna

Surrender Of A Belief

Rating: 5.0

She stands in the court room with face pooped,
Due to shame or fear her head is stooped;

Her dry eyes point to a guy and glower,
'He was the one who raped me', and her legs cower;

The opponent lawyer stands up in rage,
'To defame a popular man, i admit your courage;

If he was the one who did the rape,
You are healthier than him, couldn't escape?

Where did he touch at the start?
Where was his hand as he moved apart?

Do you remember in his body any birthmark?
You have to tell or you are lying stark.

You said you wore jeans with belts present,
He cannot remove them without your consent.'

He then like a coom moves in no ruth,
The residue of a wick of truth;

The black coat covers his white shirt,
As a dirty cloud with the moon does flirt;

While he turns, the black coat kinks,
And forms to a cobra round her it slinks;

He in victory his coat spreads,
As a crow comes from sky and treads;

Near a funeral when one ablazes,
And inspite waiting for its food gazes;

Now it is the turn of the judge,
Verdict begins with words of grudge;

He sits on top in monopoly and thrives,
Like deathgod in black bull arrives;

He on the desk with his hammer strikes,
With the same beat of night rap of tikes;

Under the dark hammer something bashes,
Yes the dream of a girl somewhere mashes;

It atlast blows in might still more,
And piercing a nail to her heart it does gore;

A sculpture stands and smiles near the judge,
Its eyes in a black linen are in smudge;

It looks for gain and holds a balance,
Whatever justice she puts in, it does hance;

It is the lawgod and it is blind,
What can we ask for a divine of this kind?

She puts blood to the pan, tears too spill,
Even puts her pride, but it goes up still;

Against the pan of black currency,
Is the law god's balance in errancy?

Her legs in the attempt to stand are failing,
But she can hear the words while fainting;

'It is her trick', the crowd shrove,
In that female voices are the most to rove! !

This was about a real incident of a girl who had been raped and later the cruel and harsh questions in the court made her collapsed.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

A truth to the point write indeed. It is unfortunate to be put on the witness stand when you are the victim. This poem brings to light one of the atrocities inflicted upon women and in some rare cases men too are victims. Justice will eventually prevail. An excellent write.
