Suspicious Poem by Edwina Reizer

Suspicious

I looked for you
but you were late.
You know my impatience.
I hate to wait.
I started to think
about when we met
You never were late
and I could set
my watch by you.
But now my love
it seems all I do
is wait and wait.

I saw your approach
with guilt on your face.
You know my suspicion
I can't erase.
' I'm sorry I'm late.'
You started to explain.
' I lost track of time.'
I didn't complain.
I checked my watch,
the time, the date
and knew I would never again
wait and wait.
