Hand in hand, we walked in the sand,
Along Swansea Bay.
How young were we in the Summer sun;
How carefree, how gay.
Our buoyant souls united,
As we gambolled on our way;
Frisking, frolicking at the seaside;
Two young lambs at play.
'Twas an interlude of sunshine,
In a year of rain.
To hear my maiden's laughter:
A nightingale's refrain;
A once-in-a-lifetime rainbow
That will never smile again;
A tiny island of pleasure,
Amidst a sea of pain.
