Sweetie's Poesies - Poem by Aparna Chatterjee

Based at home
I get the time
To do his job
Searches, covering
Letters and applications
Whenever he wants
New openings…

I'm his private
Secretary, you
May say :)

Wish he also
Had the time
To give me
An audience
For my poetry.

He's so busy
With his work
That many a time
If I feel like
Sharing my
With him,
Just to get a
Second opinion,
I don't get him.
He's in the office ;)

On the weekends
And holidays, I feel
Elated if he lends me
His ears for some
Renditions of my poems
Though such precious
Moments are hard to
Come by…because of
His family commitments.

I look towards his
Retirement days…
When he'll be able to
Spare some of his time,
For reading and reflecting.

By then, if I'm well
And alive, I would
Love to read my poetry
To him, or else he can
Bask in my memories,
Perusing his Sweetie's

(My husband always addresses me as Sweetie in all his mails and callings of me, even when he's angry with me ;) LOL: D
