Swept Poem by Cynthia Aluning

Swept

Rating: 5.0

The strong passing wind
Was my sole witness...
Of how you crucified me
And promises you nailed
For so long I waited,
And kept you in my heart
Clueless this way...
If I could ever trust again

Never thought those days
You would do me any hurt
You have loved me then,
That is what you claimed.
Then why am I left here
Sitting by myself?
Only to stand once more...
Get pulled...
And once again...
Be fooled!

Now you asked me
If I want another chance...
The nerve you have!
Such drivel shameless guts!
Why would I want
To put the broken pieces back?
It will re-form yet it leaves a mark...
Thanks to you...I have had enough!

Trust you wanted now,
Must be earned not just asked
You took me in for once
Twice...thrice...
But you failed to do your task
We were so in love...
At least that's what it seemed
If that is what you thought
Love is then, I dont want back

Your bouyant self,
So unstable mind...
You have fallen out so easy
As fast as you fell in love that quick

At first you were very gentle...
In a haven that we have settled
No trace of odds could ever meddle
All hopes were built in heaven

And now you've left me blank-pointed
Nothing but this heart so devastated
You've taken my heart into your hands
Words of love, on water you've painted

Im sorry now, it just have to end this way
I could not tell if I could love you back again
My love was swept, the gust had blown away
Like passing wind that swept your love to end

cynthia, this is so realistic. no emotion overdone or downplayed. but like a true pinay, there is politeness even when you just want to say 'scram! ' mabait lang tayo talaga. hahaha! a 10.(sorry, that's the highest rating here) . parang karaoke. (: mabuhay, merc
