Symphony Song Poem by Mason Maestro

Symphony Song

Rating: 5.0

Double pipe, Bagpipes, three-string aborigine

Shaman lute, bone flute tonality
Ancient Gymel, hymnal Seikilos Epitaph
Polyphony, drone note phonograph

Concerto, sonata, and symphony
Opera, cantata symmetry
Elemental instrumental formula
Classical woodwind orchestra

Drunken Mussorgski, a blinded Bach

Schubert schlepped a staggered walk
Finger-wrecked Schumann, Dvorak trainspotting
Kern's scores composed thin plotting

Where do we find perspective
Was it always playing
Its harmony ever swaying
Is there absolute directive
Was its nature changing
Voice of sound is fading

Ragtime, folk march, boogie jazz
Swing, waltz, foxtrot, band of brass
Two-step, slow-drag, crude coon song
Stride-style, cakewalk, stew spoon thong

Deep south blues, groove, delta block
Juke joint, country, pop and rock
Twelve-bar, blue note, shuffle beat
Acoustic, soul/skiffle fusion suite

Apology to Socrates
Britons in the colonies
Horses drawn, Habsburgs gone
Taken to a new dawn

Where do we find perspective
Was it always playing
Its harmony ever swaying
Is there absolute directive
Was its nature changing
Voice of sound is fading

Guthrie, Waters, Seeger, Lennon
Dylan, record villain, melodic million
Music arranged, keynotes exchanged
Eras of an age estranged
