Synthetic Rainbow Poem by Robert Sheridan

Synthetic Rainbow

Contradictory proposition
To seek imaginary gold
Look at it paint the sky
Through rose-colored –
“What a spectacle! ”
Optically identical to colors
Found in a box of crayons –
Artificial fibers not natural
Or genuine – inflectional
Affixes made to solely express
A relationship between what
Isn’t real and what is
Its true value is determined
By naked-eye observation
“Wait, it could be just an old
movie with celluloid thrown
in for good measure? ”
Somewhere, somehow, get
over it...
