Tagore Once Opined Poem by Sankhajit Bhattacharjee

Tagore Once Opined

Tagore once opined that a tree could only observe
its shadow but could never catch hold of it,
though the shadow belonged to the tree.

She loved him, he loved another lady...
She remained unmarried forever.

If the tree got vanished, its shadow would follow its path.
Therefore the shadow is the symbol of utter existence
because where there is a substance,
there will always be its shadow.

Human love is like shadow,
the tree is human oneself.

Here the lady failed to catch hold of her love
but survived to observe its utter sweetness.
