Tainted Eyes, Muffled Cries... Poem by Derrick Andrews

Tainted Eyes, Muffled Cries...

Nothing resonates more soundly,

Or tastes quite as bitter,

Than this betrayal around me,

This hideous litter,

Of lies, deceipt,

I knew it would happen,

Once again I face defeat,

Once again I'll be saddened,

Why, just tell me why,

Why do you stray if you claim you love me,

Was everything a lie?

Do you hold him above me?

In fact, don't answer that, I don't want to know,

My god how I hate this disgusting bitter taste,

Each time you tell me you love me it seems to grow,

Reaking distinctly of foul, revolting waste,

To manifest itself as a substance of wrong,

The essence of all that I hate and despise,

How, after we've been strong for so long,

Can you lie to me boldly while looking in my eyes?

I'm so sick and damn tired,

Of being used over and over again,

I don't have the patience required,

So go call your so called 'friend'.
