Take From The Poor Poem by Danny Draper

Take From The Poor

Rating: 5.0

Take from the poor

Take from the poor
down and vulnerable
Unfortunates in decline
squeeze the needy
invisible unrepresented
Silent without resources
to organize resistance
Isolated and dismissible
To wants greedy whims
consumed by grind
disorganized by subsistence
enslaved by privations
Disease and circumstance.

Take from the poor
The least to lose
And shortest fall
Poor choices repeated
intractable mistakes
Intergenerational poverty
Maleducated unreasonable victims
Contained by ignorance
Engaged by minutia
And External validation
Of consumable ephemera

Take from the poor
They have no cash reserves
Or private school networking
No industry lobby groups
To intimidate parliament
They give to no parties
And can call in no favours
Marginalized in their seats
But disempowered
They are soon distracted
And have no where to hide
They will not rally social media
Hapless wallowing losers
Realizing life style choices
Always to blame for their situation
Regardless of circumstances

Take from the poor
They are easy to find
But invisible to the loudest
Richest approbation seeking
Chattering class champions
celebrating successes screaming
Fame addicted and failure averse
Self assured and self serving
Winner take all humanly disregard
For the fine line between
Success and failure

Take from the poor
Prosecute failure, but
Mind the gap.
