Take Time Poem by Marilyn Lott

Take Time

Do you ever take time in early morning
When there is moistness on the ground
To listen to the soft persistent flutter
Of birds fresh awakening sounds?

Do you ever take the time to answer
The questions from an inquisitive child
His curiosity overwhelming
And when he learns he’s so very proud?

Do you ever take the time to question
Whether is it nature or God you hear
In the wonderful sounds of your world
The sky is more beautiful than you can bear?

Do you ever take the time to notice
A small animal scurrying ‘round
Tiny little creatures looking for
Their next meal upon the ground?

Do you ever take the time to listen
To the sound of falling rain
Instead of hating that it’s wet outside
You love the joyous sound again?

Do you ever take the time to enjoy
And be amazed at a fresh new sunrise
For its colors and its patterns
Are always a precious sweet surprise?

Do you take time to catch your breath
When the sun begins to set
The sky is filled with brilliant colors
Such a treat you always get?

For our world is filled with wonder
And it we stop we’re sure to find
The most wonderful transformations
If we only take the time!
