He took a knee and everyone began talking
At a sporting event when the flag was displayed,
They screamed he better stand and start walking
As Americans and so called patriots were dismayed.
The patriots had stood up and saluted the flag
As it flew in pride and honor for all Americans there,
Never will it touch the ground or ever sag
They scream their love, patriotism and honor and care.
Now as I am just sitting and wondering
About the time an American athlete took a knee,
And now I am still reminiscing and pondering
How it bothered Americans, including you and me.
He took a knee at a major American sporting event
In protest against the lack of attention of police brutality in the USA,
Americans screamed and attacked his un-American intent
Now those same Americans think flying the flag upside down is OK.
