Taking Control Poem by Mary Rodriguez

Taking Control

At times we all feel broken and seem to lose our way
I'll give you all my strength, every second of every day
Pressures of life crash down on me
Wishing it was a dream instead of my reality
Lying awake at night looking back on my past
Longing for the good times; wishing they'd last
Can anyone see me fading? Does anyone know?
Everyone else seems happy so why is everything pulling me low?
Don't let those fears take control
Grab my hand and take ahold
Can't stop the thoughts that spin around in my head
Making me believe I'd be better off dead
Past hurts and demons leave us with emotional scars
Don't let those haunting feelings destroy the beautiful person you are
When your sky comes crashing down
Reach up your hand; I won't let you drown
If your scared and insecure
Feel the warmth of my love and know I'm here
Don't give into negativity and in this life you'll go far
Your brilliance shines like a shooting star
We need to lean on others when the hurt is deep within
Trust that love from others will always win
Our purpose in this life isn't always clear
Just walk in faith and hold on my dear
