Taking Over Poem by Scott Stevenson

Taking Over

Rating: 2.2

when I dropped the atom bomb of everything
and threw the door open to God
I dropped every worry and let Him in

I fell to my knees again
my headache left
my distress subsided
when the time came, right on time,
to dropp my heart that turns into a mirror sometimes
into better hands
when brighter eyes watched out for me
and i greased a new wheel for myself

I painted the only words I had left,
thanks be to a higher calling barely noticed
over the radio
I barely, narrowly missed another death
I held on when I heard myself crying
for a turn
when things go hopelessly sour
when I dropp an anchor and listen to the earth around me

I gave up the fight of
trying to fix and beautify beyond my reach
when God shook me awake
when He tapped me on the shoulder one day
I took my foot off, I dropped my controls
lifted a cloud and said thank you

thank you for taking over
