Taking The Bus To California Poem by Matthew Conkling

Taking The Bus To California

I know it's a cliché dream

I know how stupid it seems

I understand your Skepticality

But it just seems so right

Wish I could leave here tonight

But, preparations must be complete

Get a job, save up cash,

Experience life don't be too brash

California here I come

I wanna write a book

I wanna see the world

I'm a cliché

"Just an ordinary Girl"

But, please just hear me out

Listen to what I talk about

How Cali's the place

I need to be

My life's boring, don't care

Same school, same clock,

Same Chair

Wanna change my scenery

Nothing to inspire me

That's why I wanna see

A place filled with creativity

I wanna create

I wanna sing

Can't do that if

I keep on being

The boring boy

that I am

Cali so far away

please wait for me okay?

Gonna say goodbye NY

and hello to LA

So I'm taking the bus to California
