Tale At A Restaurant* Poem by Rikki Das

Tale At A Restaurant*

It truly makes one feel like a true heart winner,
When his companion asks him out for a candle light dinner;
The compassion is genuine and the soul finds itself electrified with sweet spark,
Leave aside, the stray dog outside that used to bark;
The one made no promises or any commitment,
Still the one’s heart was overwhelmed with joy and filled with excitement;
Driving by the bank of a beautiful river was certainly a splendid sight,
The moon casted a shower of its bright moonlight;
The waiter at the restaurant got all their orders listed,
They continuously looked at each other as if nothing existed;
The innocent man thought the pair to be love-birds,
And anticipated to hear those three sweet words;
The sweet words were not what he anticipated and made him ill,
Those words were nothing but ‘PAY THE BILL’
