Today I talked to the Devil
I told him unto me to be level,
He said I can give you dreams, lust, and desires
Much hotter than Hell's fires.
I can show you how to forget hurt and sadness
And I can show you how to find dreams and gladness,
Where in my life does he really stand
And then he opened his right hand.
He had pills and a syringe and alcohol
To help me to hide and then to give me gall,
He also had cigarettes and more drugs for me to puff
And he had more than enough.
I could have as many as I wanted every day
And for help I would never have to pray,
And if I ever needed more drugs there
He said, "Unto God I would have to never say a prayer".
All I needed was to ask for him
And he would be there when I was feeling grim,
He would help me feed my addiction
Which always ended my affliction.
He then told me to get drunk and then to get high
And then with joy to cheat and steal and to lie,
Do the things that God didn't want me to do
Funner to lie in a strange bed, than to sit on a pew.
Then the Devil gave me a syringe and alcohol and pills
Then he showed me of my future with thrills,
Then I asked him what was in his closed left fist
He then said with a smile, my soul, which I'll never miss.
