Taq-E Kasra Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Taq-E Kasra

Taq-e Kasra

I chased my DNA,
From bone, flesh, nerve,
Every cell in my vein
Says: "You are from the
Area and land that,
Goes very deep in past."

Orders me to kiss dirt,
Of every article
That moves in water, air,
Or deeply is rooted,
In plains and mountains.

DNA explains, teaches me,
Issues and signs decrees:
"Stand up, walk proud,
Be firm and keep head up,
If needed use red tongue,
Raise your voice to skies."

Being lazy, lousy,
In age of older me,
See no use, but still,
Obey her, demanding:
"Stand up, walk proud,
Be firm and keep head up,
If needed use red tongue,
Raise your voice to skies."

I am child of Iran,
Will never beg, nor bow,
To bullies, till I die…

Who cares for after death?
Same will be sea, sewage,
Or eaten by vultures!

Go and read Khaghani,
When he writes of Kasra,
That has been shattered, yet,
Walls speak and we shed…? !
