Tattoos Poem by Randy McClave

I have no tattoos on my skin
Though not because it's a sin,
And not because of the excruciating pain
And not because of recognition I wanna gain.
Not because everyone else doeS
Or to prove to someone with whom I'm in love,
I don't want a name tattooed on me
As if I am someone else's property.
I truly believe that it is a true red flag
When someone's name or face tattoo begins to sag,
My body is not a billboard
For any company or sport or lady or lord.
My skin coloring was given to me already finished
To that fact my beliefs are undiminished,
On my skin is pimples and scars and fine hair
A tattoo will not ever be burnt there.
Truthfully I will be strait forward and candid
By no person will I ever be branded,
Never will I wish a name or design to be gone
Because, a tattoo on me will never be burnt on.
I want no pictures and certainly not a name
As if I'm seeking recognition and/ or fame,
Those are the facts which can't be denied
I just don't want a message board on my hide.
