Taxidermy Poem by Leon Moon

Taxidermy

your growth depends
on the position in
which you surrender to the sun.

those who look back to be saved
nourish voids
their personality
is the cherishing of shadows

it is not enough to be present.

many who live for the day
use the desire for rapture
as crutches
gomorrah glistens in their mirror

it is worthless if it is not seen.

even disdain is praise
refutation is their reputation
and sunlight is their only light
this is the light they invite to cuff

themselves to their own sun

a double bluff

it is not enough —
is is not enough to be present
but it is the start of the stream
and it is the wound from where

the entirety of your life bleeds

in spite of history

and bleeds
