Tea Party Poem by Sally Plumb Plumb

Tea Party

She thinks
her friends
only understand
what she understands.
She can't tell them
the truth
because they wouldn't
comprehend.
They know everything
anyway,
So she keeps thinking
to herself.

Everyone sits in silence,
sip tea,
and wonder
why she is
so damn stupid
to be
duped by Cupid.

Is this tea time or a cold war spy ring, we put on clever smiles and act ourselves the parts just to keep the happy applauds, we show the audience what's on stage because they have no desire to see what's behind.
