Teachers Day. Poem by Upendra Majhi

Teachers Day.

Today is teachers day,
I narrate an event of schoolday,
I was six years old in class II,
was in the class at half past 2,
teacher was teaching,
whom does the swan belong to,
to Gautam (Buddha) or Debadutta,
The later grounded it in an arrow,
former nourished it to life,
Now tell me, who should take it?
He asked me,
I was not listening to him,
I was looking through the window
at a bird flying
from branch to branch,
I said Debdutta?
It infuriated him,
He brought two canes
caned me for twenty minutes or more,
both the canes broke on my back,
My back profusely bleeding
and with dozens of swollen cross of blood,
I returned home.I was six years old.
It numbed me.

Few years ago students were punished or beaten severely. At present it is abolished as per the rule implimented by the govt. Now schools are declared as free punishment zone for which there is good relation between teachers and taught. Thank you dear Upendr sir, you have so nicely inscribed the Teachers' Day through the story of Goutam and Siddhartha.
