Tearful Juliet Poem by Fergal Dunne

Tearful Juliet

Love it is not dead,
But sleeps silent in your head.
Rose petals adorn your bed,
All the colours red.
Remembering words you said.
Juliet, sweet Juliet, you know-
Love it is not dead.

Love is not dead,
Yet my hurt can’t be unmade,
Yes, the roses they are red,
Upon my blood they have fed.
So if this love not be dead,
Why, Romeo has my heart turned lead?

Love it is not dead,
But thou hast already fled,
Before I adorned your bed.
My true love has been misread,
Let thou not be a hot head.
Juliet, my sweet Juliet, You know-
Love it is not dead.

Dear Romeo know that love is dead,
From our midst has love fled,
Emptiness lies in her stead,
Long forgotten is her tread
Upon our hearts her mark does fade.
From “love” once made,
None has remained,
End this desperate charade,
And consent that love is truly dead.

Love it is not dead,
Before casting roses from your bed,
You should have looked more carefully instead.
A single diamond lay at the head,
For you I was intent to ask me wed.
But I forgive you every time
And for changing rhyme
In lines six to nine.
I would have done so too given time.
But…
Here in the 21st century I did look.
I have found this land called Facebook.
Knights and maidens have a status and a page,
I am told its all the rage.
Do not end our most wondrous courtship.
Sweet Juliet, my sweet Juliet, You know-
love it is not dead,
Its just become a complicated relationship.

Romeo changed his status to “ in a complicated relationship”
Romeo says “Sweet Juliet please let thee be on the balcony at midnight”
The End.
