Tears Of Joy Poem by Michael John Cook

Tears Of Joy

If I stopped concentrating
Even for a second
I think I would break down
Is it tiredness,
That leaves my eyes ready to stream?
May I take this opportunity,
To put your mind at ease
Do not fear for me
I'll not take your pity
There is light at the end of this tunnel
And no, I don't believe in all that nonsense
If I wish to achieve
It is all up to me
The support gained,
Through a partner
Is just support
My limbs are strong
For now at least,
I can get by without it
I have love in my life
Unrivalled love
Not tarred by sexual tension
Or even fraudulent
I love these people
I must always have them
And I will
This is my point
My resolve shall not waiver
Such is my strength
Only the weak
Get so involved in their misery
So as to let it consume them
And ruin ones joy
Let me stop concentrating now
Just for a second
Let the tears stream,
Over my smiling face
