I was erected in 1886
A gift to a country hardly a century old
A country said to be a land of freedom
A country of hypocrites
America
The country founded on life liberty and the pursuit of happiness
That's where I got my name
Lady liberty
In my left hand
A tablet with the date of the birth of this nation
In my right
A torch
The beacon
representing the light at the end of the tunnel
And much like my own color
That light has come to glow green
Green with greed and envy
I was not built to be a pillar for these sins
I was not built for these ideals
I was not born for this hatred that has festered
I've heard of the riots
I've heard of the klans
I've heard of the people who refuse to take a stand
But you see, I do not stand for them I stand for the free
