Teenage Dream C.1960 Poem by Mary Champion

Teenage Dream C.1960

Studied my dress in the mirror once more -
a soft blue cotton with floral design -
tight waist and full skirt - in fashion for sure -
a foam of white lace peeks under the hem.
Hair almost perfect - my heart starts to soar,
can't believe that I ever could look this glam.
With nerves all a-fizz I step through the door
float into his arms and onto cloud nine.
What has this long summer night got in store?
