Teenager Poem by Hailey Agnew

Teenager

They say teenagers are all the same,
stereotypically smart shallow or lame.
They say they just whine,
complaining and being pests all the time.
Always in their way,
wasting our lives and not listening to what they say.
They say we're all the same,
they say we waste our youth and should change our ways.
They say we should stops wasting our days,
stop making all those stupid mistakes.
'Just get it right,
can't you just do it? ?
Oh never mind,
you're such a disappointment! '
They say we're not alone,
they say we're just going through a phase.
They say we should just get over it,
and change our reckless ways.
They think we're so useless,
only put on the earth to make their lives harder.
They don't understand and you can't tell them that,
they think they're just so much smarter.
You can't even say the words,
running through your head-
screaming to get out,
as you crash down on your bed.
It's so f*cking frustrating,
every d*mn word you can't say,
every thing you keep bottled up,
screaming to run away,
those words run through your head night and day.
Try and be happy,
try and always smile,
trick these blind people,
become the perfect liar.
It's all just so exhausting,
your head feels heavy,
there's a pounding, its your pulse,
pumping hard and steady,
waiting to explode; just getting ready.
They say you don't know what your talking about,
to just get over it and grow up and mature.
But they're the ones that don't know what your talking about,
all these emotions, all that pain and feeling insecure.
What do you do?
I wish I could end this poem with advice,
for all those teenagers out there,
this will just have to suffice;
Just do whatever helps,
just get through,
do whatever the f*ck makes you happy,
and just be YOU.
Don't let anybody or anything influence you,
make your choices as best you can,
Go with the flow,
don't expect things to go as planned,
and always remember;
YOU DON'T NEED A MAN.
