The Voice In My Head Poem by Hailey Agnew

The Voice In My Head

Hello?
Are you there?
This place is dark and cold,
and i'm getting really scared.
Hello?
Is anybody there?
A voice is calling out to me,
it's calling a double dare.
I stumble apon an object,
and it skitters across the ground.
I picked up the little mistery,
and you'll never guess what i had found.
I found a knife so cold and sharp,
on the handle was its label.
The label read escape,
and now escape i was able.
The voice called out to me again,
that same tempting dare.
It was daring me to cut my skin,
to raise my wrist and keep it there.
I take the dare and take the escape,
letting more light in with each cut i make,
lighting up this ugly place.
With each cut i can see the blood better,
everything around me is getting redder and redder.
My wrist stings and the blade is cold,
but it's just something i can't control.
Blood and release is lighting up this world,
i can see a mirror and i can see a girl.
Her wrist is stained red and her eyes are wet,
but the relief on her face is better yet.
Her vision is blurring and her head feels light,
she can't cut anymore or she'll lose her sight.
She falls to her knees and the relief is fading,
the light's disappearing and the mirror's breaking.
Back to the dark and back to the gloom,
it's all in her head as she sits in her room.
Now that it's over she doesn't know what to do,
she'll just do it again tomorrow after school.
She's looking in her bedroom mirror,
as her worst enemy looks straight back at her.

I think that Howlin' Dervish only has two stock comments, one being the one he left below (he left the same for one of my own poems) . Good write!

Sad to say, everyone has this voice, we just have to try to ignore it and not go to far. But im not one to talk... The trafesty in this poem is very dreadful, yet expressed really well. Im proud, keep it up :)
