You must tell me quick
Before I go
Otherwise you'll never know
You may speculate and wonder to your dying day
Why did I ever run away
You may guess right, or you may be close
But never in our time shall you know
Of what my heart is capable of
When challenged, and held
In the throes of love
Perchance I've been blinded
And swindled by greed
Or simply the heart clings to whatever it needs
But I know that within this world
As our lives and stories unfurl
It is better, I suppose, to let you go
And to have never let you know
