Tell Me Your Heart's Tale Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Tell Me Your Heart's Tale

Tell me your heart's tale
I'll set down and listen
And if you get teary and feel frail
I'll kiss away your dark tears that glisten

Because your eyes
I want to gaze into ever
Until one day you realize
That our love is forever

No greener pasture than your heart
As our lives began to lovingly intertwine
The one I felt somehow from the start
As you insist you did also feel mine

I love you. Trust it's not a line
It feels, I know, very soon
but it was somehow just in time
My dreams and visions you swoon

No more certain have I been
Than the soul beneath your soft heart
Has drawn us together like two magnets
That only pull toward each and not apart

So nothing about you can deter
and all of you makes my heart beat often
inside I feel it jump and stir
while it's past sadness you daily soften

Tell me your hopes and dreams
and if you care to hear mine
They're simple...just cherish this heart of mine
We'll chase our dreams together and capture them in time

And when our eyes meet daily
the only surprise
will be how often we laugh and smile gaily
as we're more in love, we realize

Stand by me in hope
Stand by me in sadness or dispair
I'll stand by you forever most proudly
And thank God if we're a pair
