Tell Them I Have Gone Poem by Alade Abayomi Idris

Tell Them I Have Gone

If at all they ask of me
Tell them I have gone
If they doubted you
Give them this letter.

This small bag bags all I have
My certs and clothes for my loin
If at all they ask of me
Tell them I have left their job.

Tell them I have gone
To where staff are promoted on merits
And not by family ties
And unscrupulous politicking.

I thought I'd change the terrain
And wouldn't follow the exit door like others did
But it dawns on me
All I have done, is chase a shadow.

If at all they ask of me
Tell them I have gone
If they doubted you
Give them this letter.
