Midnight Chimes to end the day
It's hours now done all wiped away,
What's been has gone and can't return
Though much we daily painfully yearn.
For Love Affairs that graced youth's prime
Now lost, begone, the theft of time.
The family Souls our Hearts we gave
Were called some years into the grave.
A Childhood spent in playful days
Now breathe disquiet of Adult ways.
For Cathedrals toll to banish and slay
To clear the path for come what may.
What's now being then and then is past;
As what will be will never last.
