Tenants - Poem by Denis Kucharski

They've come and gone
Each messier than the next
A dead tarantula on the counter
Some feces smeared here and there

Unpaid rent
Scratched floors
Broke windows, broken doors
Remnants of what has come before

With the final swoop
I ended the game
And found myself finished with all this

Sometimes you have to give up
To win playing the game
Because some stakes
Are never meant to win

Especially when hell is indeed
Other people.
