Tennet: Poems Of Ten Lines Poem by Md. Ziaul Haque

Tennet: Poems Of Ten Lines

Do you know what ‘tennet' is?

It's a poem of ten lines,

Carrying Md. Ziaul Haque's unique signs,

Which is solely his!

If the world follows the form of his,

If the poets adore and guide the philistines,

If literature is well-fed with such original proteins,

Perpetuity for literature there is!

This is what King of Words has to say,

This is what he does cordially pray!

- I have invented the new poetic form called, 'tennet'. The word 'tennet' is a mixture of 'ten' and 'net'. The word 'net' is taken from 'sonnet'. The rhyme scheme is usually abab-cdcd-ee, which is nearly similar to the rhyme scheme of the English sonnet- abab-cdcd-efef-gg; sometimes, the rhyme scheme may also be abba-abba-cc that is almost similar to an Italian or Petrarchan sonnet!
