Tested - Poem by Harlan Simantel

i am being tested
by God's holy fire
forged and shaped
object of his desire

baptized with fire
jesus' job he said
flames of white, blue and red
we emerge alive - not dead

it hurts, it's often tough
but heat is applied, just enough
until God determines
we have the right stuff

to do a work thru us
sharp arrows of his quiver
turn the world upside down
spines tingle and shiver
