And as for things
Living in water
Do they fear drowning?
To ponder how much water
until a snapping turtle
Acts like a tortoise
-or should I wonder about salt-
When the sea pours over snails
Do they shrivel?
Or do they become as sea slugs dancing?
Some things are certain:
The alligator has always
Loved the rain,
And over our drowned roads
She is queen again.
