Thangs Poem by Nellie Isabelle Steward Cooper

Thangs

Can I tell myself what
Thangs to think about

I ask u sincerely, so sincerely

I first have to think

And

Then discover what
It is I have thought

About

We must first, (you and I)
Because I sure don't
Intend to do this alone

Experience a thang
And then determine if
We like it or we dislike it

This may help determine whether
We want it - or we don't want it

How can one, more than one
Or perhaps a vast multitude
perceive what the thang is until

They have experienced
The thang for themselves

The natural approach
To all things new
Is simple curiosity

If this is augmented enough
Nothing can keep a person
From exploring new thangs

Thangs
