Thank God For My Wellies! Poem by Denis Martindale

Thank God For My Wellies!

It was so cold in my spacesuit
I had to wear my wellies
And extra briefs, my wife thought cute
On models seen on tellies.
I had my thermals on as well,
And I thought, 'What the heck! ? '
Before I even waved farewell,
Wore scarves around my neck.
I was much warmer when outside,
As I did some repairs,
Because of extra clothes supplied
In answer to my prayers.

The jobs were over in a jiff
With all repairs now done,
But then my nose began to sniff
And sneezing wasn't fun.
But all in all, I made it back
And took my spacesuit off,
And then my throat began to hack
So that I had to cough.
The Doctor ordered me to bed,
As healing, I must seek.
The others did my chores instead,
No duties for a week.

And after that, I got sent home!
The best place they could send!
From then on, no more space to roam!
That pleased my wife no end!
