Thankfulness In Life Poem by Casey Gochnour

Thankfulness In Life

I have all these things, big and small,
Some mean a lot to me, some not at all.
Yet each and every thing, I’m happy it’s there,
From my home, to my mom, to the fresh outside air.

We have all had worse, we have all had the best,
We have all had those moments to get off our chest.
But where would we be if we never had them?
We’d still be growing from the bottom of our stem.

Those glorious moments, shining bright so,
Shaped who we are, I hope that you know.
So be thankful, for who knows what you’d be,
Rich, homeless, maybe even a broken knee.

You could be dead, really, but look where you are,
Yes, yes, I know, you’re probably no star.
But there’s so much you can do, so much potential!
Be aware that your life is essential!

All of your woes, all that you’ve been,
All of the pain you’ve felt on your skin,
They all pass, all things pass through time,
You will always fall down so you can learn to climb.

Your past is full of victory and failure,
Your future depends on your new behavior.
Be thankful! Rejoice for what you still own!
Don’t be the guy who sits back to groan.

You’re blessed just with this whole life of yours,
It’s happiness, enjoyment, shut and open doors,
Don’t compare your blessing with another,
Saying oh if I could be him, oh I’d rather.

Dead or alive, known or unknown,
Whether you’re single and alone.
Parents, family, your mouth, voice, eyes,
Try to live without them all, it’s no prize.

And to think all along, you were blessed from the start,
When you were given that functioning heart,
Live for it, live for your given blessing,
Because life is too great to make it depressing.
