Thanks For The Memory Poem by Wendy Murphy

Had I paid closer attention
I knew we wouldn't fit
instead of making a tough time of it
would've seen the pattern and quit
but somehow I got lost inside
part of me died
eyes open wide
it's been a hell of a ride
Because of your memory
a great life I found
without you around
it all came together somehow
Thanks for the memory
of how we were
how it shouldn't be
because of you I see
this wonderful life ahead of me
